I feel like, other than the amazing 11th level ability, the mechanics of the subclass don't really deliver the fantasy of a warrior manipulating the connection between planes to their benefit in a consistent way.

On top of that, you can comfortably use Favored Foe adjacent Planar Warrior and saves a spell slot. For me, the value of Horizon Walker comes from the extra spells of Misty Step, Haste, and Banishment. These are just fantastic spells for a Ranger to have. The expanded spell list is what really interests me about the horizon walker. Any ranger list that lets you try something other than hunters mark (ie haste) is a god send, and teleportation circle gives you a break from survival based travel.
